From a young age, we're told how important it is to love ourselves, believe in yourselves, have confidence in yourself, help yourself. But I don't think the problem in our culture is due to lack of self-love. On the contrary, it might be an over-abundance of self-love. French philosopher, Fenelon said, "the origin of our trouble is that we love ourselves with a blind passion that amounts your idolatry." Make your life not about yourself, but about self-sacrifice.

There's an easy way to make sure your life sucks: make it about acquiring as much stuff as you can, in the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon, the king who had everything says, "whoever loves money never has enough. Whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. The sleep of the laborer is sweet, whether he eats a little or much. But the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep".

And finally, pursue faith. Do not live life without asking the question, "why am I here? And why am I here even asking that question?" For us, our faith has been the key piece in the puzzle of life that when put into place, give us purpose and meaning.

Rhett & Link give the commencement address at their former high school, Harnett Central, located in Angier, NC. It includes a special song and the violent decapitation of a Pokemon Piñata. The ceremony was held at John Pope Convocation Center at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC, to a crowd of more than 3500.

Dutch Baby

Pancakes are my go-to breakfast! This is especially true during my busy college days. You just need to mix the batter up, fry it, flip it and freeze it until you need them. But I'm getting tired of the old-fashioned pancakes. So I tried out Dutch Baby. The first time I got a taste of these babies was at the Original Pancake House in Palo Alto California.

A year later, I tried making a Dutch baby from scratch. The result is quite satisfying actually.

Swedish Meatball Pasta

I was cooking for a group of twenty people, which terrified me, because expectation was high! So I decided to go with a safe Swedish meatball with egg noodle pasta with mushroom-gravy sauce. Everything was homemade! that would never go wrong. But I was wrong, it is a simple dish, but you could screw up in so many places if you're not cautious. Anyhow, everyone seemed to have enjoyed it, at least if they were telling the truth. Below is the recipe as inspired by Laura Vitale's.

Peas & Parmesan Gnocchi

I've been wanting to make a light and vibrant Italian dish. So here we go: Peas & Parmesan homemade Gnocchi! It was my first time making Gnocchi from scratch and it was surprisingly delicious. If there was anything I wanted to do better, it would be boiling the potatoes with the skin. Because when you start boiling the potatoes without the skin on, the water from the pot gets in the potatoes and it makes it more difficult to knead the potato dough.

Fresh Lemon Salmon with Sour Cream and Arugula

There was a semester of my college life when I made an oath of being fit and healthy. And so I hit the gym at least twice a week and most importantly, had the most healthy diet throughout the semester. I attempted (so hard) to limit my red meats and start eating fish. I was getting tedious of Tilapia (because that's often what they have in the store. What do you expect in the Midwest?). And so I hit Costco and bought a lot of Salmon. And I mean a lot of salmon. So I had to be creative everyday and create new Salmon dishes. It was the greatest semester of my life. Seriously.

Not What My Hands Have Done

We all know at least the idea of being a good citizen, a good Christian, doing what is good, doing no slanders as what Paul mentioned in Titus 3:1-2. In fact, it is common sense, we all know that everyone wants everyone else to do good, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. Then why am I writing this blog post representing Christianity? Why not writing this post for some other religions that teach about good deeds as well?

The answer lies here: the motive and purpose behind doing what is good.

When I was little, I always thought that heaven is like a great scale where each person's name will be called, our good doings are measure on one side and our so-called sins on the other. If my goods doings are heavier than my sins, then I go on to live forever in heaven, this place people believe to be a paradise, where there is no more sorrow, no more tears. But, if my sins are heavier, I will also live forever in the room of torture, where you wish you could die but can never will.
Naturally, this is what we think of why we ought to do good. Our doings decide our rewards and punishments. In fact, this is what we experience is life: you study hard, you would get a rewarding grade, you work on your interview, you would most likely get the job. But in order to weigh ourselves, we must consider the definition of sin itself. Sinning means to miss the holy target. Holiness is pure, blameless, no compromises, disgusted by anything that is associated with the unclean. This would mean, no thinking about what to do next after worship, no perverted thoughts, none of these. And truly, none of us is free from sins. In fact, the ten commandments are not written so that each of us could fulfill them, God knows well that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)". The commandments were made so that we are aware of how incapable we are to achieve perfection and how much we need a greater power outside of us to shield us from the condemnation on the day of God's wrath

LGBT: Sebuah Gerakan Penularan

Mungkin ada yang heran bertanya, kenapa saya begitu keras terhadap perilaku Lesbianism, gay, bisexual and transexualism (LGBT).
Saya seakan penuh murka dan tak memberikan sedikitpun ruang toleransi bagi pengidapnya.

Mungkin saya perlu klarifikasi bahwa saya tidak sedang bicara tentang pelaku, orang dan oknum.
Terhadap oknum, orang dan pelaku LGBT, kita harus tetap mengutamakan kasih-sayang, berempati, merangkul dan meluruskan mereka. Dan saya juga tidak sedang bicara tentang sebuah perilaku personal dan partikular. Saya juga tak sedang bicara tentang sebuah gaya hidup menyimpang yang menjangkiti sekelompok orang.
Karena saya sedang bicara tentang sebuah GERAKAN!

Ya, saya sedang bicara tentang sebuah GERAKAN : ORGANIZED CRIME yang secara sistematis dan massif sedang menularkan sebuah penyakit! Sekali lagi, bagi saya ini bukan semata perilaku partikular, sebuah kerumun, bahkan bukan lagi semata-mata sebuah gaya hidup, tapi sebuah harakah: Movement! Terlalu paranoidkah kesimpulan ini?

Saya telah mengumpulkan begitu banyak kesaksian di kampus-kampus tentang mahasiswa-mahasiswa normal kita yang dipenetrasi secara masif agar terlibat dalam LGBT dan tak bisa keluar lagi darinya. Perilaku mereka sangat persis seperti sebuah sekte, kultus atau gerakan-gerakan eksklusif lainnya : fanatik, eksklusif, penetratif dan indoktrinatif.
Ya, ini telah berkembang menjadi sebuah sekte seksual.

Kenapa mereka perlu menjadi sebuah gerakan ?

Karena target mereka tak main-main: mendorong pranata hukum agar eksistensi mereka sah secara legal. Dan untuk itu mereka membutuhkan beberapa prasyarat :
