Plucking Daisies

Do you remember those days of daisies plucking?
You would pluck the petals one by one just to find out whether or not a guy likes you.

He loves me. He loves me not. He loves me. He loves me not.

And if you were not satisfied with the answer, you would ask another daisy and do the same.
If you still were not satisfied with the next answer, you would ask another daisy, again and again.
Two daisies, three daisies, ten daisies, a hundred daisies, until you get the answer that you want.

Well, that's not a very effective way to find out if a guy like you, don't you think?
I understand how much we all hate these uncertainties.
But hey, you could have asked him directly!

Sorry, I know. Silly me. Bad idea.

God loves you, God cares about you, God...
Why do people keep on saying that?
How do you know for certain anyway, if God loves you? Do you need to pluck daisies?
The answer is no, and thank God the answer is not as complicated as finding out if a guy likes you:

If somebody is willing to sacrifice the most valuable thing He has and to die for every single wrongdoing and infraction that you have and you will commit, then it is enough for you to know that He loves you. It was not just a normal death, it was the most despicable, slow and dishonorable way of dying you will ever imagine.
He notices out nothingness, yet raises each one of us as His child, best friend and even a lover. No clichés. Literally. And for the sake of our hope and eternal life, he trampled death on his feet and resurrected in His triumph. All for all our sake.

Now back to the uncertainty.

How do I know if the things I mentioned above are the truth?
If God is a divine, eternal individual, then the Words and Himself, can never be fathomed completely by mere human thoughts.
I have heard many people say to me:
"Your God cannot be understood by our ratio. Therefore we cannot put our trust on Him".
My answer would be"
"Oh thank God that my God cannot be understood by our ratio. Because if He can, then He must be lower than us, humans. And therefore do not qualify to be considered a God after all."

But if you ask me the second time, I have another simple, beautiful reason.
Just like the children song: Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
And one of my favorite hymns:
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take him at his word;
Just to rest upon his promise,
And to know, "Thus saith the Lord."
- Louisa Stead
It's that simple faith that we cling upon each day while waiting for His second return.
That day he will come to save the ones who do not "pluck daisies" upon His unconditional love.

In Christ,

Alice
